Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate is also known as sodium laurilsulfate which is an anionic surfactant which is used for the disruption of biological membranes. It has a molecular formula NaC12H25SO4 with molar mass of 288.372 grams per mol. It is a white or cream colored solid without any odour. Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate has low surface tension two liquids, gases and solids. It is an organic sodium salt of dodecyl hydrogen sulfate. It is effective for both acidic and alkaline solutions that are primarily used as a protein and lipid solubilisation reagent. The chemical is flammable and corrosive which is harmful if comes in contact with skin or swallowed.
