Sodium Benzonate is white crystalline powder which is produced by reacting sodium hydroxide with the benzoic acid. It helps in treatment of urea cycle disorder by leading the excretion of amino acids and decreasing the ammonia levels. It is a popular antifungal preservative that is widely used in pharmaceutical and food processing industries. The chemical formula of this compound is C6H5COONa and it is hygroscopic in nature which make them able to absorb water when comes in contact.
